Lottery seller wins ₹12 crore Vishu

For KFor Ponnan, a lottery vendor who won the ₹12 million Vishu lottery on Saturday, the winnings will help him find a good bride for his son Vinod.

“It is difficult to find a bride for someone from a poor family. Now we have millions of crowns. We will see if we can get a good offer for him,” he said.

Mrs. Ponnan smiled at Mr. Ponnan, who has been selling lottery tickets by the roadside for years and sometimes buys tickets for himself.

Speaking to reporters here after being declared the winner, he said that this time when he brought the tickets for sale, he bought them for himself and it turned out to be lucky. His wife said it would allow them to pay off a lot of debt they had.

Mr Ponnan said his lucky number was 2 and that was the last number on the ticket he brought.

All three started selling lottery tickets during COVID-19, he said.

“My husband has become a crorepati,” Mr Ponnanan’s wife said happily.

On the other hand, Mr Ponnan said he never expected to win.

“I checked the number a few times to make sure I won. I couldn’t believe it,” he said.
