Aryna Sabalenka is criticized by fans after her defeat in the final of the French Open 2025 against Coco Gauff on Saturday, June 7 in Philippe-Catrier. Gauff defeated Sabalenko 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-4 to claim his first French Open and the second title Grand Slam overall.
After she lost her second consecutive Grand Slam finals this year, Sabalenek had somewhat bizarre loss. The triple winner Grand Slam said that her second meeting was more of a gauff brilliance because of her own mistakes.
“I think it was windier. I also think I was emotional. Today I couldn’t handle quite well mentally. Basically that’s it. I just made unforced errors. I don’t know. I have to check the statistics.
Sabalenek during the game compared to Gauff 30, World number one said that if IGA Swiatlek got in the semifinals, in the finals a total of 70 unforced errors would be stated in the final.
“If Iga beat me the next day, I think it came out and won today. It just hurts. I played really well, and then in the last match, go there and do what I did, it hurts,” she added.
Sabalenka was just a step away from her first Clay title, when Gauff surpassed the first set of winning in a hard combat circuit breaker. But her American rival came out strongly in the second and third ensembles, Victory in a comfortable edge and requested her first main title on clay. Meanwhile, Sabalenka’s reaction to her loss did not go well with the fans, because people killed her not to respect her opponent.
Meanwhile, Gauff also commented on Sabalenko’s remarks and said he wasn’t right to say, but in the final she would rather play Swiatek because Sabalenka was in the best form.
“I disagree with that. I mean I’m sitting here. No shadow on IgA or something, but I played her and won in direct sets. I don’t think it’s a fair thing. Go statistics independently.
