Lord Malayappa Swamy as Kodandarama rides ‘Hanumantha Vahanam’

Lord Malayappa Swamy and his consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi are driven through the streets of Mada in a golden chariot on Sunday, the sixth day of Lord Venkateswara’s annual Brahmotsavams in Tirumala.

The sixth day of Lord Venkateswara’s annual brahmotsavams at Tirumala on Sunday morning came alive with devotion, music and traditional art forms as the processional deity, Lord Malayappa Swamy, appeared in the divine form of ‘Kodandarama’ at the ‘Hanumantha Vahanam’.

As the processional deity passed through the four streets of Mada, accompanied by elephants leading the procession, devotees sang ‘Bhajans’ and performed ‘Kolatam’, while recitations of Jeeyangars and tunes of traditional ‘Mangala Vadyams’ added to the religious fervor. Devotees thronged the streets and offered camphor ‘haratis’ as the procession passed by.

The ‘Hanumantha Vahana’ parade also turned into a vibrant showcase of India’s rich cultural diversity with 25 traditional performing arts troupes from 10 states and Singapore showcasing a mix of dance, music and instrumental performances.

A total of 681 artists participated in the cultural presentations, bringing a variety of regional traditions to the sacred streets of Tirumala.

In the evening he saw a dazzling procession of golden chariots, with Lord Malayappa Swamy flanked by His consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, going round the streets of Mada. The procession drew large crowds of devotees who lined the streets and greeted the deity with fervent chants and offerings.

The day’s festivities were concluded with the ‘Gaja Vahana’ procession at night.

TTD Executive Muddada Ravichandra, Additional Executive Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, SVBC President Sridhar Varma and other officials were present.
