An IITian couple from Bangalore were planning a weekend getaway. However, many people planned short trips along with them as India enjoyed a long weekend with Saturday, Sunday and Republic Day on Monday.
Reshma Bhagat and Prabhat Kumar posted a short video of themselves standing by the roadside with their bags. They looked ready to go. The cheerful visuals made viewers expect scenic vacation videos.
They primed the audience with the opening lyrics: “Humne socha long weekend hai kahin ghumne chale jate hai (We felt like a trip because it was a long weekend)”.
The mood changed sharply in the next shot. The video cut to crowded bus stops where people were queuing to board crowded buses.
This was followed by a witty headline: “Clean Bengaluru ne bhi yahi statue (All of Bengaluru had the same idea)”.
This sudden shift reveals how holiday optimism often meets reality. The title of the video caught the attention of many viewers.
“Aaj k baad long weekend pe kahi nhi jana (From now on, we won’t go anywhere on long weekends),” the couple joked.

Reaction on social networks
Many social media users found it relatable. Some of them even gave suggestions on how to plan a vacation in Bengaluru.
“The best time to visit any place from Bangalore is on weekdays and especially on non-school days. Any long weekend is best spent at home or at restaurants (before or after normal meal times),” wrote one user.
“I love the weekend atmosphere in BGLR, people go to Nandi Hill, Chennai, Kerala, Goa etc, full of parties,” wrote another.
Another user wrote: “This is a daily silk board situation, not just on long weekends.”
“Honestly, I feel that way every time, even when it’s not the off-season,” wrote another.
One user quipped, “Achchha hua sab chale gaye, traffic kam ho gaya (Good thing everyone went on a trip. There’s less traffic in the city now).”
“I went to watch a movie last night. The hall was 7 km away. So I left about 45 minutes ago which is a lot tbh and even Google Maps was showing 40 minutes. I reached after 35 minutes when the movie was already over. So it took 1 hour 15 minutes,” wrote one user.
“Why do you feel like I’m the only one who has to travel… I’ll do the same for the other brother (Why do you think the vacation is only for you? Others will have plans too),” read another comment.
