Lok Adalat handles more than 2.39 lakh cases in Kalaburagi district

The National Lok Adalat was successfully conducted across all the courts in Kalaburagi district on Saturday. Held under the auspices of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA), Bengaluru, the Adalat witnessed the resolution of thousands of pending disputes and pre-litigation matters through mutual conciliation.
The district administration has achieved significant success under the leadership of Justice Shivashankar Amarannavar, Judge of the High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Magistrate for Kalaburagi District. GL Lakshminarayana, Chief District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kalaburagi, presided over the local proceedings.
Court officials, lawyers, bank officials, public authorities and parties to the dispute collaborated on the event.
A large number of cases were discussed and amicably resolved during the day-long adalat. These included civil disputes, road accident compensation claims, complex criminal cases, land acquisition compensation disputes and pre-trial bank recovery matters.
The disputing parties reached a mutually acceptable settlement without the lengthy delays and expense of standard courtroom litigation.
According to official data released by DLSA, a total of 2,39,328 cases were disposed of across the district. This included 9,533 pending court cases and 2,48,861 pre-trial cases.
Emphasizing the unit’s legal effectiveness, several backlog cases were permanently resolved, including one case that had been pending for 10 years, another pending for seven and seven cases that had been pending for more than five years.
In addition to the financial and legal settlement of the adalat, he also repaired relations by successfully reuniting eight estranged couples who had been living apart.
After counseling and mutual consensus during adalat, the couples agreed to withdraw their legal cases and agreed to live again.
