The pilot of the locomotive, which rushed to take his pregnant wife in work pain to the hospital, was denied the southern railway.
According to Railway sources, on the night of April 8, Bibin Joseph received a train to the mangalur in the Palghata division when he received SOS from his pregnant wife that she had developed working pain. However, he continued on the train for about three hours until he reached the target and fulfilled his duty.
After handing over the locomotive to the authorities concerned, he informed the crew controller about the state of his wife and asked for a holiday. Since he was on duty, his cell phone has been in shutdown mode. He noticed that his wife had been trying to get him from the evening, only at the stop planned, the sources said.
Mr. Joseph took another train to his native Tirvally in Kerala, about 390 km away. His wife was taken to a private hospital where she released a boy in the morning.
When he celebrated a new addition to his family, Mr. Joseph received a message that he was marked on duty. There was no reason why his vacation was rejected, sources said.
The absence of service would not only mean loss of remuneration, but also an employee who was responsible for serious disciplinary measures affecting his career prospects, sources said.
Association of employees All India Loco Loco -Running Association condemned the rejection of holidays to Mr. Joseph and blamed the main manifrete controller.
The Association, which was looking for the intervention of the CEO of the South Railway, said there was no justification for the rejection of the holiday, which was a legitimate privilege of employees, more when a family member required immediate medical attention.
Officials knew well about the circumstances under which Pilot Loco pilot asked for a holiday and refused it from 9 April to this day, the Association said.
South railway spokesman could not be approached for this problem.
