Local residents and tourists called on the Ministry of State Motorways to speed up the work on the 10 km section of Udhagamandalam, saying that the impact of work on expansion and re -establishing the road is the danger to motorists.
The inhabitants said that the work led to the soil from the surrounding areas of washing on the surface and makes them very uncertain for motorists, especially motorcycle riders to navigate the section.
R. Sudhakar, a local resident, said the road is the only way to have access to the school in this area, and tourists were also used to achieve Ooty Lake and Boat House, as well as the garden gardens of Karnataka Siri.
“The road is very dangerous for two -wheel riders, especially at night, because mud and debris from the surrounding areas are washing on the road during rainy and making it very dangerous,” he said.
The road section is also used to travel to the villages of Kuruuthuli and even Nanjanad from Udhagamandalam, while locals and transport vehicles can also reach the Gudalur road without traveling to the city using a road.
However, working on the road forced more traffic to Udhagamandalam and also forced people to travel to nearby villages to get more circular routes to achieve their destinations. Another inhabitant who travels to the village of Kuruthukuli said he was now taking more than 7 km into the village due to poor road conditions.
Work on the expansion on the road also led to the fact that electricity poles were more susceptible to uprooting during the magic of heavy rain and causing power outages complained by the locals of Manjanakorai.
When they were contacted, the highest officials from the state highway Separtment stated that the expansion of roads and layers were part of the 81 GBP project along the 10.85 km section from Lovedale, which will allow motorists to advance to Gudalur to completely suck the city. “We know that motorists are facing several problems at the moment and try to ensure that the section is safe,” the clerk said, adding that the work would be completed by January 2026. ” “
