The inhabitants of many localities along the ECR, including Neelankarai and Kottivakkam, complain that sand and land will remain on the roads for civic works.
An ordinary complaint is that only about 5 ft widths were cut, but the excavated ground was collected and left side by side. Over time, due to rains, mud across the street spread, which caused the inhabitants inconvenience.
“I saw the class, fell from their bike because of the hole on the road. These roads became too dangerous for two -wheelers. The car and authorickshaws also often stuck in the sand. When it rains, things get worse,” Kalidas said.
The inhabitants in many streets were unable to book Authorickshaws and Cabs on Travel, as many drivers refuse to drive to such damaged lanes. “The streets look terrible, and if my bikes got stuck in holes or mud, it will require a lot of effort to paint them. I’d rather go on these streets rather than take my vehicle,” said Vijay, Authorickshaw driver in the area.
Gokulath Natesan, an environmentally friendly farmer of Raja in Kottivakkam, said it was even more difficult to navigate at night due to darkness. “The street headlights have been removed on some sections. We all met an accident in our family for the last 7-8 months. My cousin broke his tooth. The only consolation is that perhaps when the work is done, our streets will not get during the monsoon.”
In Neelankarai, M. Sivakumar, former President of Kapaleeswarar Nagar Residents Association, he said that although sewer lines and tests were stored, the treatment plant is still under construction. “I realized that the inauguration of these facilities would only be carried out until next year. The roads are unlikely to be re -laid earlier and we will have to take the next time. Traveling on these streets feels like a horse ride. In Pandian Salai near the Buctingham Canal, it builds on rainwater after breaking good cement concrete.
