Rattan Dhillon shared a post on Twitter (now x) about his bad experience with Indigo Airlines. They say weighing machines in Indigo’s Check-in Pults show different weights for the same bag. A user of social media who loves cars calls “one of the biggest unnoticed fraud from Indiga”.
On his flight from Goa to Chandigarh, his bag showed 18 kg on one belt, 16 kg on the other and 15 kg per third. When he asked employees, he said that reading 15 kg is bad and accused him of 18 kg.
Dhillon paid £11,900 for additional luggage, including £1 500 just for carrying an umbrella. Later he checked the weight of the bag in his hotel and it was exactly 15 kg.
“This is nothing less than the robbery of daylight and passengers are torn without realizing it. Indigo must be responsible for this fraud,” the user added.
His contribution, including acceptance data, became a viral with 1.2 million views. Twitter users have expressed their incident.
“It was kind of you that you simply accepted and doubted.
“All commercial weight scales should have valid calibration from the accredited NABL laboratory. It should be mandatory to show the calibration record and the label on each scale,” he wrote.
One user recommended people to “wear a scale of luggage dear”.
Another user noted: “This is absolute nonsense from indigo6e. What is this behavior ….. How come they can tune the weighing scale …. That’s ridiculous ….. Imagine a poor man who is a 1 flight, and they cheat on his first experience.
“When traveling from Calcutta to Bombai, he faced the same problem. One counter showed 17 kg, the other showed 14. When I asked, they insisted that higher was” accurate “. It is frustrating as common,” he said.
Indigo responds
Livemint addressed Indigo and waits for a formal answer. Meanwhile, the airline responded to Dhillon’s complaint.
“We would like to assure you that all weight luggage weights are maintained, normally calibrated and certified by airport authorities to ensure accurate reading,” Team Indigo wrote.
“Within our Due Diligence, we also conducted an internal review in coordination with the airport team and no discrepancies with the equipment used during your check -in,” he added.
