The TDP alleged that the powers that be during the erstwhile regime moved the Lok Adalat to dilute the Parakamani case. It may be recalled that the case regarding misappropriation of offerings made to Srivari Hundi at Tirumala by Mutt official CV Ravi Kumar created a sensation across the country.
TDP spokesperson and Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (APSBB) chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar and knowledge center chairman G. Malyadri addressed the media here on Thursday. They argued that the way the accused was handled with kid gloves and the fast-tracked charges within three months clearly indicated pressure from higher ups.
“The manner in which the complaint was filed by a TTD officer of the rank of Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer (AVSO) and received by the Circle Inspector at the local police station shows a lack of seriousness about the gravity of the offence. Similarly, the manner in which the accused was given a safe exit through a ‘compromise formula’ by shifting the case to Adalat indicates the alleged high pressure,” said Mr. Lokaj Kumar.
Doubts about donation
Regarding gift of land by the accused person to TTD, Mr. Vijay Kumar wondered whether it was permissible under law and also wanted to know the official who represented TTD in registering the properties.
The TDP leader asked the CID Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe deeper and find out the higher authorities who had given the orders to the TTD estate manager to get the properties registered.
“TTD has properties worth ₹14 crore registered in its name, but who paid the registration and stamp duty of ₹30,000 on behalf of Mr. Ravi Kumar remains unknown. The SIT must find out who signed the registration documents on behalf of TTD,” he said.
