Liverpool announced the signing of the Dutch complete back Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen, just hours after Trent Alexander-Arnold joined La Liga Giants Real Madrid.
Frimpong, 24, arrives at Anfield after a very successful four and half -year magic in Germany, where he performed 190 performances, scored 30 goals and registered 44 assists. The agreement will be completed after the transfer window opens 1 June, with Liverpool set to pay the fee in three annual installments.
This step refers to the end of the Liverpool era, with Alexandra-Arnold’s departure to Madrid, who overthrew the curtain in a career that began at the Club Academy. England International, outside the contract at the end of June, signed the Spanish giants in an agreement worth about 10 million and connect with his new team before the World FIFA Club World Cup.
Although Frimpong is widely perceived as a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, the new head coach Liverpool in Liverpool considers the Dutch to be a versatile option. Frimpong is expected to present primarily at the back, but can also provide coverage in more advanced roles, even during the African Cup of Nations in January, when Muhammad Salah is away with Egypt.
“It was quite easy,” Frimpong said. “Liverpool came and said they were interested, and for me it was infallible. I said to my agents,” You do anything, just do it. “
“Liverpool fans, I will give my energy, my work, and hopefully we can win, celebrate together and achieve everything together.”
Frimpong is not alien to English football. He spent nine years at the Academy of Manchester City before he joined Celtice in 2019.
It joins more and more Dutch contingent in Anfield and connects with national teammates Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch and also with the head coach slot.
Frimpong will leave Leverkusen after playing a key role in the most successful club campaign. Last season, Xabi Alonso won the Historical Bundesliga team and DFB-Pokal Double and in the Europa League final there was an undefeated 51 games in the Europa League final.
The right rear was named in the Bundesliga team for two consecutive years and made its debut for the Netherlands in October 2023. Now it has 12 international caps and one goal.
