Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly considering significant changes to his attacking lineup during the upcoming summer transfer window. With growing dissatisfaction over Darwin Nunez’s inconsistent performances, the Uruguayan striker’s departure from the club appears increasingly likely.
Nunez, who has managed only four goals and two assists in the Premier League this season, has fallen short of expectations for a player in a title-challenging side. Speculation over his future has linked him with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, a transition the player is said to be open to exploring.
As Liverpool prepares for life without Nunez, the club is already scouting for a suitable replacement. According to former Liverpool scout Mick Brown, Brighton’s Joao Pedro has emerged as a potential target. Brown, speaking to Football Insider, highlighted the Brazilian’s desire to join the Merseyside club but questioned whether he is the ideal fit for Liverpool’s ambitions.
“If he’s given the chance to go to Liverpool, he’ll want to go,” Brown said. “Brighton will demand a massive fee for him, and while he’s a player Liverpool have been looking at, I’m not convinced he’s the right man. Liverpool needs a top-class striker who can consistently deliver goals.”
With Mohamed Salah carrying much of the goal-scoring burden and his own future at the club uncertain, Slot’s priority remains finding a reliable forward to bolster the attack. Nunez’s lack of work rate has reportedly drawn criticism from the manager, further fueling the need for a summer overhaul.
The Reds are expected to have a busy transfer window, not only focusing on new signings but also addressing the contract situations of key players. Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all nearing the end of their current deals, making contract negotiations a top priority for the club.
As Liverpool eyes reinforcements, the search for a prolific striker continues, with the aim of elevating the team to new heights in the upcoming season.
