Liverpool have sacked head coach Arne Slota after a dismal defense of the Premier League title
Liverpool have officially parted company with head coach Arn Slot following a disappointing Premier League campaign that saw the Reds finish fifth and narrowly secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The decision comes just a season after Slot led the club to the league title in his debut campaign at Anfield.
The Merseyside club confirmed the Dutchman’s departure in a statement on Saturday, saying the decision was made after careful consideration. Liverpool endured an inconsistent season marked by poor results and failure to challenge for major honours, ultimately falling short of the expectations that followed their title success.
“Together we have come to the conclusion that a change is necessary for the club to move forward. It must be emphasized again that this is not a decision we have come to lightly, anything but,” Liverpool said in a statement. The club are now expected to begin their search for a new manager ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
