US President Donald Trump repeated his threat on Friday to impose a 10 % tariff on imports from BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) of developing nations.
According to a video shared RT.com, Trump said there is a “small group” called BRICS, which “fades” quickly. He claimed that “no one appeared” at the BRICS meeting the day after threatening to slap 10% of the tariffs.
He claimed that the Brics countries wanted to “try to take over the dollar, the dollar dominance”.
BRICS ‘would end very quickly if… ”
The US President also said that the BRICS Group would end very quickly if they ever created a meaningful way.
“When I heard this group from BRICS, six countries, basically I hit them very, very hard. And if it sometimes creates a meaningful way, it will end very quickly,” Trump said without naming the country.
“We can never let anyone play with us,” the US President quoted.
Trump also said he was determined to maintain the global dollar status as a reserve currency and committed that he would never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency in America.
Trump tariffs
Trump announced the new tariff 6 July and said it would apply to all countries that he would associate with what he called the “anti -American policy” of the BRICS group.
With forums, such as G7 and G20 main economies, the BRICS Group is a refuge for multilateral diplomacy with divisions and disrupting the “America of the First” President’s approach.
Since the publication of Trump, he has repeatedly claimed without evidence that the group was established to damage the United States and the role of the dollar as a world reserve currency.
BRICS Head refused to claim that the group was anti -American.
In February this year, Brazil planned plans to promote a common currency during its Presidency, but the group is proceeding to cross -border payment system known as BRICS Pay, which would facilitate business and financial transactions in local currencies.
Last year, the BRICS Group spread under Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa to members such as Iran and Indonesia. The leaders at the Summit of the Group in Brazil expressed indirect criticism of American military and trade policy.
Trump also focused on Brazil specifically and announced a 50% rate on his import, starting from August, and launched a separate investigation into what Washington described Brazilian “unfair” business procedures.
