Literary personalities visit the memorial museum of prof. Haimendorf at Marlavai in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district

A team of literary figures, including eminent writer Allam Rajaiah, visited the memorial museum of Austrian anthropologist Christoph von Furer-Haimendorf and his wife Elizabeth at Marlavai, an Adivasi village in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, on Sunday.
Mr. Rajaiah and other team members decorated the statues of an Austrian couple who lived in Marlavai in the 1940s as part of field studies and research, according to a press release.
Speakers said that Professor Haimendorf’s research and reports have contributed to the understanding of the Raj Gond and other Adivasi communities and have influenced policy discussions on Adivasi rights, education and development. They said Kumram Bheem’s fighting spirit and sacrifice in the struggle for Adivasi rights for Jal, Jangal and Zameen remained a permanent part of the history of tribal rights movement.
On the occasion, Mr. Rajaiah presented a copy of the novel on Kumram Bheem written by him to Marlavai sarpanch Kanak Pratibh, the press release added.
The villagers briefed the team about the history of Marlavai, the cultural heritage of the Adivasi communities and the legacy of Prof. Haimendorf and his wife Elizabeth.
