All toddy shops, wine shops, bars adjacent to restaurants and army canteens within Muduchinthalapally municipal limits will remain closed from 5:00 PM on February 9 to 5:00 PM on February 11 in view of polling for the second regular elections to Municipalities and Municipal Corporations scheduled on February 11.
The order was issued by Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty under Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968. Apart from the closure of the election period, all such establishments will also remain closed from 6:00 AM on February 13 until the counting is completed and the results declared.
The closure applies to all toddy and wine shops, bars attached to restaurants, military canteens, including bars in star hotels and registered clubs, located in the area of Muduchinthalapally municipality under the jurisdiction of Malkajgiri police station.
According to the notification, the restrictions were imposed to maintain public peace and tranquility during voting and counting. The police ordered that the notice be given wide publicity through leading local newspapers to inform the general public.
