
Former MLC Mohan Limbikai urged Bharat Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha to immediately convene all the leaders of different castes between Verashaiva Lingayats and the fortune tellers to make unanimous decisions on what the members of the community should mention in the columns of temporary social and educational survey.
In a press release published here on Tuesday, Mr. Limbikai said it was time to send a strong report on unification, instead of fighting less differences.
Mr. Limbikai expressed a shock to the statement of the heads of various caste organizations that called the community members to identify themselves names such as Hindu Ganig, Hinda Banajiga, Hindu Sadar, Hindu Yangama, Hindu Reddy and other similar names.
He said that by identifying with the Hindu prefix and omitting Veerashaiva or Lingayat, the community’s population will further reduce. The Kantharaju Commission report has already been made the same error during an earlier survey that resulted in a decrease in the community population to 66 lamps from 1.5 crore.
Mr. Limbikai said: “It is undoubted that the Veerrashaiva Lingayat community will one day get the status of an independent religion and we should all fight united for a thing.
The former MLC called on the community leader to identify their caste as Lingayat, and then mention their subclast in the column.
