Light to moderate rain is very likely in Rayalaseema and one or two places in South Coastal AP from November 23 to 26 as a low pressure area has formed over Malacca Strait and adjacent South Andaman Sea on Saturday November 22 at 8:30 AM.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is very likely to move west-northwest and strengthen into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal and south Andaman Sea around November 24.
Continuing to move west-northwestward, it is very likely to intensify further over southwest Bay of Bengal around November 26.
However, Saturday’s bulletin did not mention whether the depression would intensify into a cyclone, while the same was communicated earlier.
“There is a chance of a cyclone forming over the Bay of Bengal. But it has not been officially declared yet. We will have to wait for three days,” IMD-Amaravati senior scientist S. Karunasagar said.
There are currently no weather warnings for the state. However, dry weather will prevail over southeast and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea with wind speed reaching 35 km/h to 45 km/h, gusting up to 55 km/h.
