
Tirupati received heavy rainfall on Tuesday (December 2, 2025) due to cyclonic storm Ditwah, even as the deep depression, a remnant of the storm, weakened into a depression.
While Mallam in Tirupati district recorded the day’s highest of 96.5 mm, Chittamur, Allampadu, Vidyanagar and Tada all received 95.75 mm, 70 mm, 61.25 mm and 59 mm respectively in the same district. Palasamudram in Chittoor district also received 92 mm and Kakarlamudi in Eluru district received 50 mm. Light showers were also recorded in the districts of Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema, Kakinada and West Godavari. There were very light showers in Nellore district.
According to the Cyclone Warning Center (CWC) in Visakhapatnam, India, a deep depression over the west-central and southwest Bay of Bengal and the coast of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh slowly turned southwest and weakened into a depression at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
It then slowly moved southwest and remained about 40 km east-southeast of Chennai and 190 km south-southeast of Nellore. It is very likely to continue moving towards North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast and maintain depression intensity. By Wednesday morning (December 3), it will likely weaken into a significant low.
