
Light to moderate showers are likely to continue over parts of Kerala, especially south Kerala and the hilly areas adjacent to the Western Ghats, induced by a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Saturday, a low pressure area has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of Sri Lanka. Further, the cyclonic circulation lies over the southeast Arabian Sea off the southern coast of Kerala at a height of 0.9 km above mean sea level. Under the influence of the systems, parts of the state are likely to experience isolated showers for the next five days. A yellow alert was issued for Idukki on Sunday and a yellow alert was issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki on Monday warning of isolated heavy rains.
