On 13 May 2008, Jaipur witnessed one of the most destructive terrorist attacks in Indian history. Eight bombs exploded in crowded areas such as Manak Chowk Khanda, Chandpole Gate, Badi Chaupad, Muchhoti Chaupad, Tripolia Gate, Johri bazaar and sanganeri gate. Near the chandpole bazaar, another unexploded bomb was discovered and the authorities were destroyed. The explosions were carried out by means of ammonium nitrate, RDX and metal chips to maximize victims.
Indian Mujahideen demanded responsibility for attacks via e -mail sent to the media shortly after the incident. The investigation was proposed by possible ties with Harkat-ul-jad-al-Islam Bangladesh (Huji) and caused concerns about cross-border terrorism.

In December 2019, a special court in Rajasthan convicted four individuals – Mohammad Saif, Sarwar Azmi, Saifur Rehman and Moammad Salman – their involvement in the explosions. In March 2023, the High Court in Rajasthan overturned the sentences of the death of four convicted of insufficient evidence and procedural outages. The liberation of Shahbaz Hussain was also confirmed by the High Court.
