The main political discussion broke out after the opposition leader in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, that he was endangered by late trade union Minister Arun Jaitley over his opposition to farm laws. Rahul Gandhi said, “Arnu Jaitley was sent to me to threaten me, and said that you know if you continue this journey against the government fighting against us on farm laws, we will act against you.” Minister of the Union Kiren Rijiju refuted this statement and pointed out the mismatch in the timeline. Rijija said that Arun Jaitley died in August 2019, while the farmer’s accounts were introduced in 2020 and questioned how such a meeting could happen. Bharatiya Janata accused Rahula Gandhi of the lie, while the congress side prevented him, suggesting that it could be a slip of the tongue and that he could refer to the soil.
