Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in collaboration with IEEE organized a consortium Train the Trainer Program on e-resources for librarians at its Belagavi campus on Thursday.
Working professionals and other delegates from various colleges arrived at Shri SG Balekundri Central Library and Information Center at Jnana Sangama campus.
“The goal of this event was to provide our scientists, faculty, and researchers with advanced resources and tools to increase their research impact and streamline access to a wealth of academic content,” the release said.
Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the VTU Consortium, Vidyashankar S. delivered the Presidential Address.
He emphasized the growing importance of electronic resources and digital access in promoting academic and research excellence across VTU-affiliated institutions.
He said the event is of strategic importance to students and staff, especially PhD students.
“These resources will enable researchers to publish in high-impact journals (Q1, Q2, Q3), which will ultimately contribute to the reputation and ranking of VTU like NIRF,” he said.
He urged young researchers to actively engage with these resources to increase their academic visibility and the university’s research importance.
Registrar (Evaluation) TN Sreenivasa emphasized the importance of expanding VTU’s digital library ecosystem to promote interdisciplinary research and foster collaboration.
Technical seminars featured insightful presentations from global publishers such as Elsevier – Science Direct and Scopus Database, Emerald Publishing – ICE Resources, Springer Nature, Taylor and Francis Group.
The event provided an enriching platform for library professionals to enhance their understanding of digital resource management and strengthen VTU’s commitment to knowledge upgrading and academic innovation.
Librarian and Coordinator, VTU Consortium, Somaraya B. Tallolli welcomed the delegates.
Deputy Librarian Sameen Afreen Khan anchored the event. Registrar, VTU, Prasad Rampure and other officers were present.
