The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Committee on Public Enterprises headed by Chairman Kuna Ravikumar held a review meeting of various institutions in Kadapa district on Friday where several cases of financial indiscipline and lack of accountability came to light.
Accompanied by Collector Sridhar Cherukuri and panel members including MLC Bhumireddy Ramagopal Reddy, Tadikonda MLA Sravan Kumar, Pamarru MLA Kumar Raja Varla, MLC Isaac Basha, Joint Collector Aditi Singh and Deputy Secretary Naga Muneiah, Mr Ravikumar reviewed the functioning and progress of Yongi Vemana Arts University, Yogi Vemana University and Yogi Fineman. Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (IIIT Idupulapaya), Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station (RTPS), Kadapa Steel Corporation, Pulivendula Area Development Authority (PADA), AP Tourism and Andhra Pradesh Center for Advanced Research in Livestock (APCARL).
The panel found that many institutions broke the rules, skipped mandatory approval procedures and failed to keep basic records. Mr. Ravikumar questioned how administrators of such prestigious institutions could overlook repeated instances of mismanagement and allow audit objections to pile up without taking corrective action.
