VCK, CPI, CPI(M) and CPI(ML) functionaries staged a protest in Madurai on Thursday condemning the BJP-led NDA government for increasing the prices of commercial cooking gas cylinders.
They also condemned the Center for its move to cut 29,000 posts in the Indian Railways. The officials raised slogans against the BJP-led NDA government and demanded an immediate reduction in the cost of war and withdrawal of the decision to reduce the number of posts in the Indian Railways.
The public has been affected by the hike in the prices of commercial cooking gas cylinders, they said, adding that the move to reduce the number of seats in Indian Railways will affect the country’s youth.
Condemning the BJP-led NDA government, the functionaries said the central government’s economic policies favor corporate entities and are against the interests of the general public. Hundreds of functionaries of left-wing parties and the VCK took part in the protest.
