Leeds United Eyeing Summer Move for International Forward Compared to Mitrovic
Leeds United are reportedly planning to sign an international forward this summer who has drawn comparisons to former Newcastle United and Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to a recent report.
Leeds Transfer News: Preparing for the Future
Despite a recent dip in form, Leeds United remain firmly in the race for promotion to the Premier League, two seasons after their relegation. With just eight games left in the Championship, Daniel Farke’s side currently top the table, leading second-placed Sheffield United only on goal difference and holding a two-point advantage over Burnley in third.
Whether Leeds secure promotion or remain in the Championship, the club appears to be laying the groundwork for next season, with several transfer targets already identified. Among them is Southampton striker Cameron Archer, who was a January target, and Almeria’s Ibrahima Kone, who is also on their radar, as reported by Africa Foot.
One of the most discussed potential moves is the return of Kalvin Phillips. TEAMtalk recently revealed that Leeds already have a verbal agreement with Phillips, currently on loan at Ipswich Town from Manchester City, to rejoin the club if they achieve promotion. Phillips is reportedly eager to revive his career at his boyhood club.
Leeds Target Forward Likened to Mitrovic
Another player Leeds are reportedly monitoring is Dynamo Kyiv striker Vladyslav Vanat. The 23-year-old Ukrainian international has been in impressive form this season, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances and helping Kyiv challenge for the Ukrainian Premier League title.
According to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Leeds, along with West Ham United and Fulham, are tracking Vanat ahead of a potential summer move. Vanat has been capped 10 times by Ukraine and is considered a versatile and impactful forward.
Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has described Vanat as a “complete forward” with excellent “pace, finishing, shot power, movement, link-up play, and ambidexterity.” Notably, Football Transfers has compared Vanat’s style of play to Aleksandar Mitrovic, who now plies his trade with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Mitrovic’s exploits are well-known to Leeds fans, particularly his five goals and three assists in nine appearances against the Whites, including a brace in a thrilling 4-3 Leeds victory in September 2020. If Leeds secure Vanat, it could be a signing to watch as the club aims to strengthen its attacking options for the upcoming season.
