State Muslim Youth League president Syed Munawwarali Shihab Thangal said here on Sunday that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) would support the Congress-nominated chief ministerial candidate if the United Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power in the state. “We are not taking any specific view on the chief ministerial candidate. We will follow the decision of the Congress high command as has been the established precedent,” he said.
He dismissed SNDP general secretary Yogam Vellappally Natesan’s claim that the Muslim League would rule the state if the UDF came to power, saying the people of Kerala would respond to such “reckless” remarks through voting.
