The district committee of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will organize a public meeting outside the Kozhikode Corporation building near the Kozhikode beach on Friday to protest against the alleged attempts of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the BJP to gain political mileage from the recent tragic death of four laborers at Valiyangadi in the city.
The event will be held at 7:30 pm CPI(M) leader and former deputy mayor CP Musafar Ahamed and other LDF leaders told the media on Thursday that both the BJP and the UDF staged protests at the tragedy site and the mayor’s office when rescue operations were in full swing. They alleged that attempts were made to pin the blame on the Kozhikode Corporation. They claimed that the corporation had taken action against unsuitable buildings whenever such cases came to light.
Mr. Ahamed claimed that the condition of the building where the tragedy occurred was not brought to the attention of the corporation. The LDF leaders also demanded that more compensation be given to the family members of those who lost their lives in Valiyangadi.
