The Minister for Forest Ak Sasendran launched a political controversy on Sunday (June 8, 2025) when allegedly on Saturday (June 7) on Saturday (June 7) on Saturday (June 7) on Saturday (June 7) on Saturday (June 7) (June 7) on Saturday (June 7) on Saturday (June 7).
The Minister claimed that the rapid reaction of UDF to the tragedy seemed to be organized and supported suspicion of potential involvement in the tragedy. He said that a protest demonstration was organized in Malappurama before the people from Nilambur had learned of the tragedy.
The State Secretary of CPI (M), who threw his weight for Mr. Sasindran, demanded that potential political motifs be investigated for rapid politicization of the incident and the seemingly organized reaction of UDF.
He claimed that UDF politicized the tragedy to attack LDF. “It should be examined if there is a conspiracy. There was a deliberate attempt to avert the problem against the government and turn it into a political weapon without fully understanding what happened there. The investigation will reveal who for it,” he said.
Mr. Govindan demanded that the role of a member of Panchayat, who is a close friend of the candidate UDF Aryadan Shhoukath, be investigated. “Everything will be revealed by examining the history of the accused’s call,” he said.
CPI member (M) Politbyro A. VijayaraGhavan said Congress is trying to gain an advantage without discussing politics. “It shows how they have become heartless congress workers. Congress attempts to reduce the problem due to rapid legal action by the police arrest for tragedy,” he said.
UDF hits back
However, UDF leaders responded sharply and demanded the Minister’s apology. A member of the National Work Committee of Congress Ramesh Chennithal said that the government can never wash their hands for the tragedy.
“The Minister should withdraw his shameless words and apologize to the murdering family of the unfortunate boy,” Mr. Chennithala said, demanding that the murder charges be slapped on the State Electric Council of Kerala.
Chennithala described it as a murder by a sponsored government and stated that UDF would not return from his booth after the boy’s death. “We keep problems with wild animals and do not allow the government to avoid responsibility,” he said.
The leader of the opposition VD Satheesan, who described the comments of the Minister of the Forest as disgusting, demanded that Mr. Sasindran resigned. “The minister should withdraw his disgusting accusations connecting the child’s death with the selection. If not, he should resign,” said Mr. Satheesan.
The Indian EU Muslim League (IUML) National Secretary General PK Kunhalikutty said that the wild accusation of the Minister against Malappuram was a desperate attempt to distract from his own inability. “We have never heard of such a demonstration in Malappuram. His claims of Malappuram are unfounded and reflect the custom of LDF about the sacrifice of the region,” said Mr. Kunhalikutty.
