With three seats short of a simple majority, the Kozhikode Corporation remains the only major consolation for the Left Democratic Front (LDF), which faced a rout in the local polls in the state, the results of which were announced on Saturday.
The LDF won 35 of the 76 seats, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) won 28 seats and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) 13 seats. The UDF returned to the civic body, increasing its tally from 17 to 28. However, the BJP made major gains in the corporation, winning 13 seats, up from seven in 2015 and 2020.
