The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has completed seat sharing for the upcoming Kasaragod District Panchayat polls.
LDF District Convenor KP Satish Chandran announced that the division of seats between parties has been completed and the front will fight in all 18 divisions in the district. Of these, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) will field candidates in 10 divisions, the Communist Party of India (CPI) in three and the Indian National League (INL) in two. Kerala Congress (M), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will contest in one division each.
Major divisions of the CPI(M) include Cheruvathur, Madikkai, Bekal, Puthige, Kuttikol, Chitarikal, Kumbala, Kayyur, Delampady and Chengala. CPI will contest in Periya, Kunchathur and Badiadka divisions. Kerala Congress (M) is contesting in Kallar, RJD in Pilicode and NCP in Manjeswaram while INL will field candidates in Uduma and Civil Station divisions.
In the 2020 local body elections, the LDF secured control of the district panchayat, four of the six block panchayats, two of the three municipalities and 38 grama panchayats.
The LDF election conventions at the panchayat and municipal levels will be held from November 12 to 17, while the ward-level conventions will end on November 20.
CPI(M) district secretary M Rajagopalan, MLA CH Kunhambu, KV Kunhiraman, CPI district secretary CP Babu and Kerala Congress(M) district president SJ Sebastian were present.
