
One of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) independent candidates did not get a single vote in Pattambi municipality, lending weight to the United Democratic Front (UDF) claim of an understanding between the LDF and the Welfare Party of India.
LDF-backed independent candidate Abdul Kareem drew a blank in Hidayath Nagar (12) ward of Pattambi municipality, while UDF candidate TP Usman won the ward with 292 votes. Independent candidate KP Sajid supported by Welfare Party of India got 208 votes and was supported by LDF in the assembly.
On election day, Hidayath Nagar saw a clash between workers of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Welfare Party. UDF leaders reiterated their allegations of an alliance between the LDF and the Welfare Party in the congregation.
