On Wednesday in Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) in Kattupalli in Chennai held a ceremony for laying a hernia (FSS).
The Indian Navy said the event was attended by Vice President Rajarama Swaminathan, control of war production and acquisition, along with higher officials from Indian Navy, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) and L&T.
The Navy signed a contract with HSL in August 2023 about the acquisition of five FSS vessels, with the supplies scheduled for half of 2027. As part of the public and private sector partnership, the HSL subcontractor of two ships at the L&T shipyard to use the capacity of boat construction and observe the strict delivery time.
When induction of the FSS vessel – each with a shift exceeding 40,000 tons – it will expand the capabilities of the blue water of the Indian navy to make it easier to replenish the fleet ships at the sea. These ships transport fuel, water, ammunition and shops to allow prolonged and permanent maritime operations, increase in range and mobility.
In the secondary role, the Navy added that FSS vessels will also be equipped to perform humanitarian aid and auxiliary operations for disasters, including staff evacuation and rapid delivery of materials during natural disasters.
The Navy also stated that the original and constructed warships will be equipped with equipment from Indian manufacturers of original equipment.
