The Association of the Lawyers of the All Assam urged members of the legal fraternity not to be the accused in the event of the iconic composer of the singer Zateen Garg 19.
In a statement on Friday (September 26, 2025), the Association said Garg’s premature death caused mass anxiety in Assam.
“Death in mysterious circumstances has caused suspicions, secrets and a sense of conspiracy. Several firs were stored with the police in different parts of the state. Allows their conscience to prevent the accused will be a historical mistake for legal brotherhood,” the association said.
Fifty -five firs were filed with the police against Shyamkan Mahant, organizer of the Northeast India festival in Singapore, Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma and others. The singer traveled to Singapore to attend the festival.
On Friday (September 26, 2025), the Crime Investigation Department issued a announcement to the Police of Assam to people who were united or were aware of the events of Garg’s death to appear within 10 days. They included members of Assam Association of Singapore.
The second direct day, Sleuths of Cid and a special investigation team (SIT) attacked Mr. Mahant’s residence in the Guwahati Geetanagar area. On Thursday they attacked his house and the house of Mr. Sharma and Garg’s bandmate, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami.
The police also took six people in custody in cases of clashes when a large group of demonstrators in front of Mr. Sharma’s house gathered during the air raid. The police said these people had covered stones in the team and damaged property, leading to cane charge.
Meanwhile, individuals, organizations and political parties across Assam have intensified the demand for the immediate arrest of all responsible for Garg’s death.
Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) attacked the main Minister Himanta Bisw Sarma during the death of the singer.
President AJP Lurinjoti Gogoi said that the course of the investigation and statement of the main minister suggests that he does not want the probe to move in the right direction. He asked if the government feared “the skeleton would rise off the closet” if the truth came out.
The AJP also published several photographs showing the main minister and police officials in the company of Mr. Mahant. The photographs were published in connection with the statement of the main minister on Thursday that he did not like Mr. Mahant and the government had no connection with its organization.
