The dramatic moment came in the closing stages of the match which Bangladesh eventually won by 11 runs to clinch the three-match ODI series 2-1.
Controversy over Bangladesh’s late review
Pakistan’s complaint revolves around the decision of on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasen to allow Bangladesh to review the penultimate match.According to Cricbuzz reports, the Pakistan team management believe that Bangladesh decided on the review after watching the footage on the stadium’s big screen, which they say is against standard DRS protocol.“The Pakistan team management believes that Bangladesh took control after a replay of the delivery appeared on the big screen and raised an issue with the match umpire after the match,” the source said.Pakistan also felt that the review was done outside the 15-second window that allowed teams to signal a DRS call.

Coach Mike Hesson meets with the match referee
After the match, Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson met match referee Neeyamur Rashid to formally register the team’s concerns over the incident. While the exact outcome that Pakistan is seeking from the complaint remains unclear, sources suggest that the umpire spoke to Hesson and tried to clarify the situation, suggesting that the Bangladeshi team did not gain any unfair advantage. What happened in the finale The incident occurred when Pakistan were chasing 291 runs and required 12 runs from the last two balls with captain Shaheen Shah Afridi at the crease. Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain bowled a ball down the leg side which Dharmasena initially called a wide. Bangladesh then appealed for LBW, leading to a review of the decision. Although teams cannot directly review a wide call, the LBW assessment allowed the third umpire to review the delivery again. The recordings showed a tip on the UltraEdge, indicating bat-to-ball contact. As a result, the original broad call was cancelled. Although Bangladesh eventually lost the probe, the overturned wide greatly reduced Pakistan’s chances of completing the chase.
Bangladesh seal a historic series win
On the final delivery, Shaheen Afridi was stunned to seal an 11-run victory for Bangladesh and seal a 2–1 ODI series win. The triumph marked Bangladesh’s first ODI series victory over Pakistan in 11 years.
