Collector Himanshu Shukla said land acquisition is underway for 11 major industries in SPSR Nellore district. According to the Collector, the authorities in the district acquired land for six companies, and they are identifying the land for the other five.
In an interaction with the media, he said, “Along with solving the problems in the district, we are also working systematically on its development. I have mainly focused on the process of acquiring land for setting up new industries. My main intention is to industrialize the western region to the same level as the eastern region of the district.”
“Discussions are underway with several industrialists to set up units in Atmakur and Udayagiri areas as well. Steps have been taken to set up some industries in Jaladanki and Duttalur mandals as well. Of the 6,000 acres of land required for the BPCL oil refinery project, nearly 3,200 acres have been acquired while the rest will be acquired soon, according to reports.”
“If everything goes well, the foundation stone of the BPCL project will be laid in February 2027,” he said, adding that the land acquisition process for Indosol Solar Private Limited is in full swing. The district administration is also focusing on creating direct and indirect employment opportunities through industrial development in the respective areas.
Meanwhile, the state cabinet recently approved the allotment of land to IFFCO Kisan SEZ, which was pending for the past 30 years. Of the total 2,772 acres, IFFCO will develop 1,600 acres while the government will develop 120 acres, the Collector informed. He further said that efforts will be made to create industries by handing over the Kovur sugar factory to APIIC.
“The state government aims to provide satisfactory compensation to farmers and workers and to establish environment-friendly industries in the area. Kavali is likely to develop as an industrial area with the establishment of Ramayapatnam Port, Indosol Solar and BPCL industries. The companies are expected to start operations in the next two years,” said Mr. Shukla.
