
Former Indian goalkeeper Pharokh engineer and legend West Indies Clive Loyd is preparing for them named after them on the iconic old transformer of their former regional side of Lancashire on the outskirts of the fourth test between India and England here.
The engineer played for Lancashire for nearly ten years While former Captain West Indies Lloyd has been with the club for two decades, which is an indelible contribution to the club’s history.
Sources said PTI that the ceremony of the name of the rack could take place on the first day of the test match, which starts on 23 July. England led five matches of the 2-1 series after three high intensity games.
“It is a suitable honor for both club legends,” the source said.
In 175 matches between 1968 and 1976, 87 -year -old engineer carried out 5942 runs, took 429 catches and performed 35 stumps for Lancashire.
On the other hand, double Captain West Indies, who won the World Cup Lloyd, changed the wealth of the club after he arrived as an overseas player at the beginning of the 70s.
When the engineer born in Mumbai debuted in Lancashire, the club had no main title for more than 15 years, but helped them to raise the Gillette Cup four times between 1970 and 1975.
Later this week, the engineer and Lloyd would be immortalized in the history of Lancashire. Interestingly, the engineer does not have named named after him at the stadium Brabourne, where he played most of his cricket.
“It was incredible times, and Old Trafford was an amazing place to be able to.
“We could see the Warwick Road railway station from Old Trafford and saw wrapped trains emptying passengers on the platform before the match. We heard singing and excited shack and laughter,” he recalled.
The engineer also remembered receiving fans during his flourishing.
“It was amazing, our cabinets would be full of requests for autographs and invitations to parties. Everyone in England talked about the great team, names like Clive Lloyd, Harry Pilling, Peter Lever and Ken Shuttleworth,” he said.
“The buzz lasted years and we were the most famous one -day team in the country.”
After retirement, the engineer made Manchester his home and continues to live here. The ceremony along the higher officials of the club is expected to participate in the ceremony together with the higher officials of the club.
