Lalbaugcha Raja Immersion: The immersion of one of the most famous Mumbai iconic Ganpati idols during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Lalbaugcha Raja, was delayed on Sunday, the report said.
According to a PTI quotation report, the sources quote, an unexpected increase in Arab sea waters due to the influx of the immersion of the Idol Lalbaugch Raja.
This is the first time that the immersion of the idol has been delayed, the sources cited by PTI said.
Usually the immersion of the Idol Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh is kidnapped by moving the idol to the raft before 9:00, in the deep sea in the Girgaon Chowpatta in southern Mumbai.
Thousands of devotees continued to wait for Chowpatta to say goodbye to Lord Ganesha despite the delay.
Why is Lalbaugcha Raja to immersion delayed?
The immersion procession of the idol began on Saturday and was brought to Girgaon Chowpatta early Sunday morning, which coincided with a strong tide.
A rapid increase in water caused the platform carrying an idol to start floating, making it difficult to align with a raft, which was to transfer the idol to the deeper sea for immersion.
For about three hours, Ganesh Idol was in several feet of deep waters, with 15 to 20 volunteers and fishermen trying to keep their balance.
After more than one and a half hours of efforts of local fishermen and volunteers, Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal decided to wait for the water to retreat after a high tide of 4.42 meters around 11.40 hours.
The immersion will now be performed as soon as the tide retreats to a safer level, the sources said.
This year, the mandala would use a new raft of large size for immersion, they said.
The wearers of the Mandal-Sudhir Salavi and the Balassaeb Camble-have been contacted to be contacted despite repeated experiments.
On the beach Girgaon Chowpatta, many devotees gathered to offer their final farewell to iconic Ganpati Lalbaugcha Raja. Anant Ambani joined the procession and marked the last day of the Ganpati festival, also known as Anant Chaturdashi.
Civic and police authorities were present on the spot and carefully monitored the situation.
