Muhammed Hamdullah Sayeed, a member of the parliament representing Lakshadweep, asked the Interior Minister Amit Shah to start a holistic review of the administration and service of the archipelago.
In a letter to Mr. Shah, Mr. Sayeed pointed out that the intervention of the center was required to solve urgent problems facing island, including a dispute over the “pandaram” country, unemployment and reduced transport services.
He said that the recent administrative restrictions created legal uncertainty, disrupted construction activities, and undercut traditional practices of land use, because generations rely on Pandaram for housing and community purposes.
The letter stated that several contributions in key departments, including health, education, public work and fishing, remained unoccupied because government jobs remained a primary source of livelihood. Reduction of passengers and freight vessel services, along with higher tariffs and irregular plans, disrupted mobility and supply chains in the Lakshadweep Mobility.
Mr. Sayeed said that the lack of storage, processing and marketing infrastructure of the cooling agent prevented fishermen from realizing the real value for their catch. The withdrawal of specialized medical services and the release of trained rescuers weakened the provision of health care. The merger of schools without local consultations reduced availability and affected inclusive learning, he said.
The deputy asked the Minister of the Interior to represent a high -level committee or a ministerial delegation to visit the islands and directly participate in the parties to formulate the corrective measure.
