The ongoing Laksha Deepotsavam celebrations in Nellore, held as part of the auspicious month of Kartheeka, have attracted a large number of devotees, especially women.
Renowned spiritual orator and Cultural Advisor to the Government of Andhra Pradesh Chaganti Koteswara Rao attended the event organized by the VPR Foundation at the Venkatagiri Rajah’s College grounds.
Mr. Koteswara Rao along with MP V. Prabhakar Reddy and Kovur MLA V. Prashanthi Reddy joined devotees in lighting traditional oil lamps – a customary practice during the holy month symbolizing divine enlightenment.
Drawing a parallel between lamp light and human vision, Mr. Koteswara Rao appreciated the recent initiative of VPR Netra Foundation, which organizes mobile eye camps in villages and distributes spectacles to the beneficiaries on the spot.
Earlier in the day, Rudra Homam was performed, followed by Laksha Kumkumarchana of the Goddess by 108 married couples. In the evening, devotees offered one lakh leaves each of jasmine and Tulasi (holy basil) to the deity Pandarinath, amidst chants and devotional fervour.
