Ladakh LG Vinai Kumar Saxena to hold additional charge of J&K LG during Manoj Sinha’s exit | Today’s news
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has been appointed to perform the duties of Jammu and Kashmir Governor in addition to his existing duties during the absence of J&K LG Manoj Sinha.
According to a communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu made the appointment for the period during which Sinha is on leave.
Sinha, who took over as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 7, 2020, is currently in the United States on an official visit, according to official sources quoted by PTI.
Saxena to take oath as Chief Justice of J&K High Court
Saxena is also scheduled to administer oath to Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati as the new Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on September 9.
The oath-taking ceremony will take place at 11 am at the Convention Center in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, according to highly placed official sources.
Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati has been appointed as the Chief Justice of JK and Ladakh HC
On September 5, President Murmu appointed Justice Bhati, currently a judge of the Rajasthan High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
His appointment becomes effective on the day he assumes the leadership of the office. He will replace Justice Sanjeev Kumar, who has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court since June 2.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended Bhati’s name
A Supreme Court collegium recommended Justice Bhati for the post of Chief Justice of the J&K and Ladakh High Court on 31 August.
Justice Bhati is a senior judge with extensive judicial experience. He was elevated to the High Court of Rajasthan on 16 November 2016.
With Sinha on an official visit, Saxena will handle the duties of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir while continuing his duties as LG Ladakh.
