A 37-year-old laborer was found dead at a labor camp at a construction site in Gachibowli on Saturday (January 3, 2026) morning, prompting the police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased, identified as Ajay Dalai, a native of Sabarang village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, was staying at SAS Infra labor camp located in survey number 97 of Nanakramguda. Dalai only joined the camp about a week ago for work.
The incident came to light at around 6 am when camp security guard Mani noticed Dalai lying motionless in his room and informed labor colony manager Vakkanti Naveen over phone. Naveen (41), who lives in Vanasthalipuram, rushed to the labor colony and found Dalai dead in his room.
In his petition to the police, Naveen said Dalai had dinner along with other laborers on January 2 and went to his room to sleep around 9 pm but was found motionless in the morning. He then alerted the Gachibowli police who reached the spot.
Police said there were no signs of a disturbance or struggle in the room where the body was found. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
