Kylian Mbappe (Getty Images) Kylian Mbappe on Wednesday denied media reports that claimed Real Madrid were investigating a bad leg when the France star injured his knee late last year.French broadcaster RMC Sport’s “After Foot” football program said this week that the Spanish club initially scanned his right knee in December, not his left. Other media outlets in Spain carried similar stories, almost all citing RMC. Mbappe played three games with the team before he was finally diagnosed with the injury, with Madrid releasing a medical report on December 31 confirming a sprained knee, followed by an update this month after he traveled to Paris to seek a second opinion, sidelining him for more than three weeks. Mbappé was first injured against Celta Vigo on 7 December but played three games before the end of 2025 – against Alavés, Talavera and Sevilla – before the knee sprain was confirmed.“The information that (Madrid) was investigating a bad knee is not true, maybe I have some indirect responsibility for the situation, because if you don’t communicate what you have and what is happening, it leaves the door open for interpretation and everyone rushes to fill in the blanks,” he added. Mbappe said on Wednesday on international duty with France as they prepare for a friendly against Brazil.

Madrid derby: Alexander Sorloth on Atleti’s strategy against Real Madrid “Now with Real Madrid, we always had a very clear communication, whether it was when I started my rehabilitation in Madrid or when I was in Paris, where I was accompanied by a doctor, a physiotherapist and a physical trainer of the club where we worked from Paris, so there is no problem with that, we are in an important moment of the season. The team played well, without me it was the only solution, but I thought that when I got injured.” it wasn’t that important. concluded Mbappe. France plays Brazil in Foxborough on Thursday and faces Colombia in Landover on Sunday. On Monday in Paris, Mbappe said his knee was fine. He was used as a substitute in Real Madrid’s last two games as he worked his way back into form.“At one point there was a lot of frustration, a lot of anger, and then some anxiety,” Mbappe told French media late on Monday at a promotional event. “I got to a stage where I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I didn’t go through that period at my best. I wasn’t the happiest player in the world. But now I’m happy because it’s really behind me. It’s all gone.” added Mbappe.
