Kylian Mbappe is ready to wear iconic jersey No. 10 for Real Madrid since the season 2025–26. After spending his debut year in Spain by dressing shirt no. 9, the French striker will now inherit a series of long -linked with legendary names in the club. The last shirt was worn by Luka Modric, who went to AC Milan early this summer and ended a remarkable 13 -year -old charm in Santiago Bernabeu.
According to the ESPN Real Madrid report, MBAPPE has always intended to take over the shirt no. 10 as soon as the Modric left. The report also notes that MBAPPE did not require a shirt and was ready to wait another season if Modric decided to stay. His respectable attitude allegedly gained further admiration from the Madrid hierarchy, who believed in him to lead the next era of the club.
The first MBAPPE season in the La League was individually impressive. He scored 31 goals in the league and ended up with 44 goals across all competitions – crossed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut 33 in all competitions. Despite his fertile form, Real Madrid endured a frustrating campaign. Barcelona won the league title, while the run of the Champions League club ended in disappointment after the loss of knockout to Arsenal.
Since then, Madrid has moved in a new direction and named former player Xabi Alonso as the head coach after Carlo Ancelotti resigned. Alonso’s arrival means a generation shift and summer signatures of players, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, reflect the ambition of the club to rebuild for a long time. This transition is expected that MBAPPE will play a central role on and outside the playground.
Wearing shirt no. 10 comes with its own pressure and history, especially in the Madrid figure. Some of the best -known football names worn it and the expectations will be high. But at 26 and entering its main, MBAPPE will have a chance to add a new chapter to the heritage of shirt – and help Madrid return to the top in Spain and Europe.
