
The Kiela Water Office (KWA) is ready to invite tender for the establishment of 190 million liters per day (billion) water treatment in Aluva.
The offer for a race, which is expected to solve the drinking water crisis in Kochi, is floating in two months, the authorities said. The new plant is expected to meet the expected water supply requirements by 2050.
The 190-mld capacity race will be set up in the KWA compound in Aluva, about 200 meters from the existing plants. The race is expected to be completed in 15 months. The company will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plant for five years. Water for the plant will be pumped from periyar.
Currently, Kochi Corporation meets four water treatment in ALUVA. “The first was established in 1965, while the second is 50 years old. The actual production capacity of four plants is 225 billion. There is another 100 -ld in Marad. The race was designed with the expected requirements of the 2050 population,” Kwa said.
By implementing this new race, KWA plans to supply other water water, 13 neighboring Panchayats and five municipalities.
