
Renowned poet KV Ramakrishnan has been selected for the Asan Memorial Poetry Award 2025, which is instituted by Chennai’s Asan Memorial Association and given annually for outstanding contribution to Malayalam poetry.
Ramakrishnan’s selection came from a shortlist drawn from nominations submitted by poetry enthusiasts and literary admirers. A jury comprising writers Thomas Mathew, PV Krishnan Nair and KS Ravikumar unanimously selected him for the award. The jury praised his ability to harmoniously combine the richness of tradition with a modern poetic consciousness, describing his work as rooted and refreshingly innovative.
The award carries a cash prize of fifty thousand rupees, a citation and a specially designed sculpture by renowned artist Achuthan Kudallur. The handover ceremony is scheduled for February 2026 in Chennai.
