Kuruvilla Joseph was named the first professional Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (Iist), Thiruvananthapuram.
Iist is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Universe, the Indian government.
Dr. Joseph worked in key administrative roles, including a registrar and dean (academics).
It has more than 250 research works in leading international magazines, nine books and several patents on its credit, Iist said in his statement. Work Dr. Joseph brought him international recognition, including its integration into the prestigious Stanford/Elsevier list of the best 2% of scientists in the world for five consecutive years (2020–2025), the statement said.
