
The Kuppam city police reportedly arrested eight persons from West Bengal and recovered ganja worth ₹20,000 from them.
According to Kuppam Sub-Division Police Officer Pardhasarathi, the ganja was allegedly being smuggled from Odisha to Kerala. The police conducted searches in Kuppam and allegedly arrested eight persons who were in possession of ganja.
Those arrested have been identified as SK Hasibul, SK Namizul, Soumik Madal, Suman Das, SK Hasinoor Zaman, Muttamik Malith, Kiran Modal and Moazim Mondal, all hailing from different parts of West Bengal. Police seized 40 kg of ganja and arrested eight under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Mr. Pardhasarathi said strict action would be taken against those indulging in transportation, sale or consumption of ganja. He appealed to the general public to provide information about those selling ganja or involved in suspicious activities.
