Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body of Kukis in Manipur, blamed the National Socialist Council of Nagalim, also known as NSCN (Isak-Muivah), and its “proxy” Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson) for the attack. The NSCN (IM) denied the allegations.
The Kuki-Zo Council said Friday’s killings reaffirmed the legitimacy of the demand for self-governance for the Kuki-Zo communities, whose conflict with the Nagas followed that with the non-tribal Meiteis.
The latest round of violence in Manipur occurred during the visit of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh to the state. He assessed the security situation in the state affected by violence.
