HYDERABAD
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has urged the party cadre to celebrate December 9 as Vijay Diwas, a historic milestone in the Telangana statehood movement.
Speaking to party leaders, MLAs, MLCs and district presidents in a teleconference on Sunday, KTR emphasized that December 9 was the day the central government started the process of forming Telangana, in response to the death of K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
“This day will go down in history as a turning point for Telangana’s 60-year-long aspiration,” KTR said, recalling KCR’s 11-day hunger strike that fueled the movement and helped achieve an independent state.
The KTR ordered that the celebrations be organized only at the constituency headquarters, in view of the ongoing local body elections. Planned activities include anointing the Telangana Thalli statues with milk, garlanding the Ambedkar statue and paying tributes and organizing charity programmes.
A special program will be held at NIMS and Gandhi Hospital under the leadership of MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav where fruits will be distributed to the patients.
